Rosemount Tank Gauging – Reliable and profitable radar based system

TankRadar^® Rex is designed for refineries, tank terminals and the petrochemical industry. It is the accurate system for custody transfer, process control, inventory control or for filling a tank without risk of overflow.

TankRadar Rex measures levels to a precision of ± 0.5 mm, can emulate level gauges from other manufacturers and be fully integrated into existing systems.

The TankRadar Rex gauge is available with a wide range of antennas for different applications. Electronics and housing are the same for all 3900-series gauge types.

RTG 3920: The Horn Antenna Gauge is used on 200 mm (8-in.) or larger nozzles on fixed roof tanks.

RTG 3930: The Parabolic Antenna Gauge is used for measurements in both fixed and floating roof tanks. The antenna design provides high gain and signal to noise ratio, which makes it suitable for measurements on bitumen, asphalt, condensing and sticky products.

RTG 3960: The LPG / LNG Gauge is installed in a still-pipe and measures level of liquefied gas in LPG and LNG tanks. It is rated up to 40 bar (600 psi) and is designed to operate in a wide temperature range; -170 to 90 °C (-274 to 194 °F) in tank.

RTG 3950: The Still-pipe Array Antenna Gauge is used in existing still-pipes. Typical applications include crude oil tanks with floating roofs, and gasoline / product tanks with or without inner floating roofs. It is available in two versions, fixed and inclined.

DAU 2100 – Data Acquisition Unit: The DAU is a Display Unit for outdoor use in hazardous areas. In addition, up to 14
temperature sensors can be connected to the DAU. It is powered from and communicates through the radar level gauge.
A DAU displays level, level rate, ullage, signal strength, spot and average temperature.

FBM 2180 – Field Bus Modem: The modem is required for connecting the field bus to the control room TankMaster PC.
The PC connection can either be RS232 or USB.

FCU 2160 – Field Communication Unit: The FCU polls data from Rosemount tank gauging field devices and stores the values in a buffer memory. When a request for data is received, the FCU can send data from up to 32 tanks.

FCU 2165/2175 – Field Communication Unit: The FCU polls data from field devices of different brands and stores the values in a buffer memory. When a request for data is received, the FCU can send data from up to 256 tanks.

MST – Multiple Spot or Average Temperature Sensor: The MST measures temperature with a number of spot elements placed at different heights to provide a tank temperature profile and an average temperature. Only fully immersed elements are used to determine the product temperature. The MST can be integrated with a Water Level Sensor (WLS).

Pressure Transmitter: The pressure transmitter measures pressure and it can be connected to the radar level gauge. By complementing level measurement with temperature and pressure, the density of the product in the tank can be calculated.

Radio Link: The high speed UHF radio modems are used instead of cable for point-to-point connection between the control room and the field devices. The radio modem can be connected to the TankMaster PC / Host computer or to an FCU.

The Remote Display Unit (RDU 40) is a robust display unit for outdoor use in hazardous areas. If the number of temperature elements per tank is 6 or less, the RDU 40 is the most cost effective solution for field display. In this case the temperature elements can be connected directly to the TankRadar Gauge (RTG) without using a Data Acquisition Unit (DAU).

Rosemount 2120 Alarm Switch: The fixed roof alarm switch, Rosemount 2120 Vibrating Fork, is used when a separate alarm
switch is required to prevent overfill situations. The TankRadar Rex gauge itself is also approved for overfill protection.

WLS – Water Level Sensor: The WLS is used to determine the water content in a tank. At the bottom of an oil storage tank there is water and by measuring the water level it is possible to calculate the correct product volume in the tank.

Rex Complementary System Products
